Information Exchange
Don Ling (WB5CKO)
- “I get by with a little (maybe a lotta) help from my friends”
- Antarctica has been on the air:
- 14.130 MHz a few days ago
- 7.049 MHz on CW
- “When in doubt, change it out” (in reference to old vacuum tubes)
- same goes for coax cables these days…
- might look fine from the outside, BUT:
- conductor or dielectric can crack
- it can get water in it
- replaced a 25 ft section of coax with 100 ft and got a 300% increase in signal at the other end
- Matthew Barry (KG5LYE):
- same goes for Internet/TV/Cable coax feeds
- just had ours replaced today: Internet got a lot faster and seems to be more reliable now
