Officer Reports
President N5ZKF
- Tonight we honor Al Chisholm (W5CA /SK). He was always ready to help. He was a big part of the antenna trailer we use for field day. A part of First Baptist Bryan’s ability to respond to community needs in disasters, etc. He saw to it that the steeple be fiberglass and house a HF antenna in case coms were needed in an emergency. We will definitely miss him.
- Bad weather the last few days, check antennas and feed line for damage.
- Nice weather now, good opportunity to do something outside amateur radio.
- Due to the Corona Virus and “Shelter in Place” ordinances, we are not going to have our regular, in person, monthly meeting this Saturday 04/18/20. Instead we will have an on-air, NET style, meeting at the same time.
- Saturday – 04/18/2020 at 09:00 on the 146.680 repeater.

- W5CA and W5DZ were a huge help when I first started in HAM. AL helped install a chip in my radio that I needed and he had. He was an amazing guy. He will be missed.
Phil Gates (N5ZKF)
- Trying to design a new arrangement for my radio gear. Downsized my HF rig and ordered some parts to make it more portable and be able to take it to the park or out in the field.
Joe Napoli (KG5SDF)
- Designing a remote antenna tuner. Problems I’m having are more with motors and gears.
- Problem soldering to nickel plated items. Any suggestions?
- Phil Gates (N5ZKF): really rough up the surface and then clean it well and make sure you put a lot of heat into the metal when you apply solder.
