14th Annual Harris County CERT Rodeo Needs Ham Operators!

Ham Radio Volunteer Opportunities are available for the 14th Annual Harris County Citizen Corps CERT Rodeo taking place on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at the Harris County Fire & Sheriff’s Training Academy in Humble, Texas. There are now over 41,000 CERT trained people in Harris County and the region.

This event is one of the most exciting and active public service events in the Houston area. Your support and assistance is needed.

What: CERT Rodeo

Date: Saturday, February 8th, 2020 6am-5pm

Equipment: Only an HT with a headset are recommended for this event. We’ll be using a communications trailer,

local repeater and simplex communications. This affords Hams with a handheld radio excellent coverage for this event.

Location: It’s located at the Harris County Fire and Sheriff’s Training Academy

Directions: 2318 Atascocita Rd., Humble, Texas 77396 (off Ygnacio Road next to Lindsay Lyons Park)

Parking: Free parking

5:00 am – Monitoring Talk-In Repeater

6:00 am – Local Simplex Communications Begins

6:00 am – Ham Operator Check-in at Communications Trailer

7:00 am – CERT Teams Registration/Check-in

8:00 am – Events Begins

Notes: Ham radio operators of all skill levels and physical abilities are requested. The signup form allows you to tell us what physical ability level you are comfortable with. You can also request specific duties and assignments. Repeater/talk-In frequency, EAP, ICS-205, operator assignments and event map will be emailed to you prior to the event.
